GE VMIVME-5576 is a high-performance, multi-channel fiber optic reflective memory for VME networks. The following is a detailed introduction to the product:

1、 Product Overview

VMIVME-5576 uses a fully integrated mixed signal system level chip, providing a very fast and efficient way for data sharing between distributed computer systems. It allows data sharing between up to 256 independent systems (nodes) at a rate of up to 6.2Mbyte/s through a high-speed, easy-to-use fiber optic network.

2、 Main features

High speed fiber optic network:

VMIVME-5576 supports a serial rate of 170Mbaud, with a data transmission rate of up to 6.2Mbyte/s without redundant transmission and up to 3.2Mbyte/s with redundant transmission.

Node connection and data transmission:

Up to 256 nodes can be connected, and the longest distance between nodes can reach 2000 meters.

The data is transmitted by writing to the onboard global RAM and automatically sent to the memory locations of all Reflective Memory boards on the network.

The data transmission between nodes is software transparent, so there is no need for I/O overhead.

Reflective memory function:

Each reflective memory board can be configured with onboard SRAM ranging from 256Kbyte to 1Mbyte.

The data written into the memory of one node will also be written into the memory of all nodes on the network.

Allow interrupts to be written to byte registers for one or more nodes, and interrupt signals can be used to synchronize system processes or track previous data.

Error detection and redundant transmission:

Redundant transmission mode can suppress errors and provide network operation without processor overhead.

The processor does not participate in network operation, reducing the complexity and power consumption of the system.

Interruption and synchronization:

Any node on the network can generate an interrupt on any other node or all network nodes through a single command.

Interrupts always follow data to ensure that data is received before interrupt confirmation.

Configuration and Access:

Each node on the system has a unique identification number between 0 and 255, determined by hardware jumpers.

The software can read the node number by accessing the onboard register, which helps determine the function of the node.
